Nature again strikes at the world by not only making one disaster happen, but two.  Indonesia got struck by a 7.5 magnitude earthquake which is a major magnitude for an earthquake.  After that, the quake triggered a devastating tsunami with 10 foot waves. After the disasters struck, everything  left behind was in rubble.  Some towns’ roads turned into mud when the earthquake struck. Survivors just packed up and tried to go to the airport for supplies and to search for a way to evacuate.  Supplies were also in short supply: food, water, electricity, gas, and equipment. It was at least 12 hours to reach the destroyed places but after a few days’ supplies, airdrops finally came in and they are being sent into some of the most devastated places that are reachable.

Some of the better and heavier equipment are coming in from around the country in order to clear rubble faster.   Right now, it is estimated that more than a thousand people have lost their lives and that this number will likely rise with still many more missing.  Ever since the event happened, people are racing into the harbor and airport, trying to catch a flight into any nearby city in the meantime that the government clears the place.  Today, more and more equipment is arriving. Food, water, and gas are also coming in fast for transporting everything and getting people fed.  Some places even have electricity from some of their generators.  Let’s all send positive thoughts to all of the people affected.
