This is a recipe I created myself over the summer. With it and a mini donut maker, you can eat yummy donuts without heading to the donut shop. Best of all, you will sharpen your own baking skills along the way! Here’s what you’ll need:

A mini donut maker

1 cup of flour

⅔ cup of sugar

3 tsp of Baking Powder

1 large egg

1 ¼ of milk

4 tbsp of oil

¾ cup of grated cacao paste

1 packet of hot chocolate mix

First, stir the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, cacao paste, hot chocolate mix) together in a large bowl. Then, add the egg and milk to the mixture and blend it for 90 seconds with an electric mixer at medium speed. Next, scrape the sides of the bowl before adding the oil and mixing at medium speed for 30 more seconds. If you want to spice up your donuts try adding some chocolate chips to the mixture. Finally, use the batter to make your donuts by following the instructions that come with your mini donut maker. Due to differences in donut makers, you might want to taste your first batch of donuts before continuing to bake. If the donuts have a sunken in shape, try adding more flour. In case of the donuts being too thick, add more milk.

In order to test out my donuts, I decided to bring some for the members of journalism. Each member got a donut, then I asked them what they thought after they had all eaten. I received very positive and enthusiastic reviews, including statements like “They were amazing.” and “They were really good.” Baking these donuts was really fun, especially considering I got to share them with friends. If you ever make a batch, I recommend pairing them with Nutella and a cold glass of milk.
